The beginning of my quest to eliminate debt

The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step. Or in my case, the journey of erasing $22,000 in credit card debt. Don't ask how I got this deep into debt. I've spent a lot on unnecessary things and made some poor financial decisions, but have resolved to put an end to my foolish ways.

A quick introduction: I am a single 28 year old guy in the construction management business. I guess you could say I'm pretty average (apart from my financial stupidity?).

Anyway, back to my debt. To help me in my goals, I did a quick online search for some resources. I found these useful:
Yes, I'm spending money on books. Sue me. I figure that they are worth more in the long run than the relatively cheap cost of buying them now. They should be here in a week or two and I will start reading those.

It's time for me to head off to work now... going to be a long day but I'm feeling good about starting this journal.
